How to Win at Scare House
Scare House is haunted whack-a-ghost — tap the ghouls the instant they pop from the windows, before they duck back into the dark. Speed matters, but the winners are the ones who don’t waste taps on empty air.
How Scare House scores you
Ghosts appear in the windows for a brief moment; hit as many as you can before they vanish. Every tap on an empty window — or on a ghost that already ducked — is wasted time your opponent is using to land a real hit.
Watch the whole house, not one window
- Soft-focus the full board. Take in every window at once so your peripheral vision catches a pop anywhere — don’t hard-stare a single spot.
- Don’t camp the last window. Ghosts rarely repeat the same window twice in a row.
- Both thumbs ready. Keep a thumb hovering over each half of the house so either side is instant.
Accuracy is speed
- A confirmed hit beats a wild swing — misses cost time you can’t recover.
- Don’t chase a ghost that’s already fading; move to the next fresh pop.
- React to the actual pop, don’t try to predict which window is next.
Center-of-mass trick: rest your eyes on the middle of the house so every window sits roughly equal distance in your vision. You’ll react to a corner pop about as fast as a center one.
Learn the pop rhythm
A few free rounds teach you the frequency and timing of the pops, so in a token duel you’re reacting to a rhythm you already know.
Frequently asked questions
Should I predict which window is next?
No — pops are unpredictable. Soft-focus the whole board and react to the actual pop.
One thumb or two?
Two, split across the halves of the house — it cuts travel time so either side is instant.
Do misses hurt my score?
They cost time you can’t get back, so a steady accurate pace beats frantic tapping.
